This Week in Review..

Lets see, What have we been up to this week? ALOT! Thank Goodness we got over being sick! That was HORRIBLE! Thank goodness Jackson did not seem to get anything! I am 95% sure that we both have had sinus infections brought on by allergies and over all exhaustion mixed with a good dose of airplane air. We fought it off with Mucinex and Tylenol and a Neti Pot. Im telling you. If you have sinus and nasal congestion problems you HAVE to try this thing. This is the second time I have seen it save lives haha... It just cleans out all of those bugs with salt water. It is totally the best homeopathic remedy for sinus infections!

After I got to feeling a little better, I went to buy paint to start my glorious home improvements! I got Gobi desert ( my favorite tan) and a nice antique white just to clean things up a bit but still stay simple. That big Blue wall is going away and its looking oh so good! The tan color definitely looks better against white moulding. All my windows and moulding are in a cherry wood color. The walls look very clean though and not in your face, but still homey.

The upstairs bedroom is going to be the antique white with our sage green/ chocolate brown silk comforter set with these fabulous white sheers and yellow curtains. There are these track lights above where our bed is going which Im going to make a cornice for. It will be white with white sheers coming down from it and coming down on either side of the bed.

something like this look as far as the sheer whites

The downstairs bedroom is going to be a guest bed with a turquoise and choc brown damask comforter set, a desk/office area for Ev in the middle of the room and the farthest part will be the nursery. We took out a nasty old desk that was taking up the whole wall. That freed up space for the guest bed! WooHoo! Ill update all of these thing with pic as soon as we get internet on the 10th!
This is the bed set for the guest room...

Today, Sunday, we went to our dear friends' church. We LOVED it. It was everything we want for Jackson to grow up in. SOO different than the people and routine we are used to at home. Not in a bad way, but in a way that is going to be great for us and the close knit church environment we want for Jackson! What a blessing it was to know that we already have so many friends here. Within five minutes we had people offering us their car and unlimited babysitting! We are already super excited to go to bible study group on Thursday! WooHoo!

We got home from church and we walked in to find this GINORMOUS spider. I thought I had seen the worst and then BOOM...Here is this huge prehistoric looking Arachnid in my KITCHEN! AHHHH! It was easily as big as a half dollar. It scattered over to the cabinets and I am terrified at what will jump out at me next! I know they are not poisonous but GEEZ...Im not even joking, I am having some serious arachnaphobia problems!

Thank Goodness for the Geckos! I have an eco system in my own house! The Geckos eat the spiders ( and leave glorious poops all over my house grr), Spiders eat the mosquitos (and me) and the mosquitos eat ..oh wait..ME again....What are mosquitos good for besides dinosaur blood? NOTHING!

Now we are at the company's house that Ev's Co workers are renting doing laundry and enjoying a GORGEOUS view of a pasture and goats on rocks! I cant wait to go home and sear some fresh AHI! Can you believe that we got 4 steaks for $15!!! Thats unheard of! Also some mm mmm good sea weed salad!

Like I said, we are getting internet on the 10th so bear with me till then!

Aloha!

Postin from the 'ol iPhone...

Here we are! Pretty much camping in our new house. We packed a camping box to take on the plane filled with essentials... We got 4 king size mattresses from a local liquidation sale...$5 each!
Jackson is adjusting as good as can be expected. there have been a couple of really great nights! .. A couple.. He is such an easy baby though that it's hard to complain. When he is not sleeping he is awake and happy, laughing and giggling! Then he starts chirpping for food or sleep... we call him chirping bird... He also has developed an afinity for digging his lil monkey toes into anything he can get them on... Usually my legs and stomach... No wonder it's still pretty sore! His other love is shoving his fists as far into his mouth as possible! Funny guy!

Evan is pretty much all better but I'm still fighting a head cold sinus thing. I have a bad feeling that it's going to stick around for a while! Aside from being sick all I've had to worry about are icky spiders crawling on me at night and biting the begeezies out of me. It totally creeps me out. Since the house has been empty for a while there are quite a few crawling things around that I am too chicken to deal with. Ev didn't want to tell me but he caught a 6" centipede on our front porch! Ewe! Oh well, I guess we don't live in a cement playground anymore! I'll get used to it. That goes for the heat and humidity too!! That's why Hawaiians move so slow. You have to! Or you will dehydrate and die!

Well, I guess I better get some sleep now that the baby is napping! Ttyl ya'll!

What to Do? Help me out fellow decorators!!

SOoo I am pretty sure I know what I am going to do for the kitchen and living room area, but these two bedrooms! EEeek! What color? I can paint the walls but Im not going to deal with painting the beams. So that means we have to find a great color that goes with Everything! If any of you know Hawaiian homes, this one is pretty darn good to work with. Everything else is an 80's luau nightmare, so I do feel pretty lucky, but my usually easy color determining eye is having a hard time with this one.

Let me know what you think!!! Im kinda thinking just a nice tan and maybe a darker tan. These rooms need warmth BIG TIME! But I still want to keep the island thing going.

Here is the master:

Our Bed is a Queen poster bed which I will put in the same spot as this bed. I have some Damask Bedding that will actually work with the beams. Its chocolate brown and that color of the beams. I think that is all i have to match in the room. If I have SOMETHING that matches the beams, then maybe I can get away with other colors or ... A COLOR. I also have just plain Chocolate Brown bedding. So we will see...

That wall color though! I have No idea accept for maybe a nice tan... Suggestions? These are a few photos of some things I like. I am leaning more toward The more simple earth tones...All of these are just COLOR combos to check out, not specific styles I want...

Here is the Second Bedroom which will be a nursery/ playroom/ Guestroom...Its really big and the pic is only showing the play room/nursery half... I think Ill take this room half at a time haha....

We Have a Home! We have a Home!

Oh my goodness! So we finally found our home in paradise and it is amazing. It is one of the two homes I had posted on here previously. It is absolutely a dream come true for us. It has fruit trees and gardens, hard wood floors and a spa. The kitchen is huge! I have been envisioning our furniture in this home for quite some time so I know EXACTLY where everything is going! I cannot tell you how amazing it feels that we have a place to go to! I cant wait to set up my housekeeping there! Christmas is going to be sooo fun this year. Our huge tree will fit sooo well in this home. We first and foremost have to thank God for this house. About 4 months ago, Evan and I found it on Craigslist. In Kauai a house of this magnitude for the price of rent is unheard of so we were thinking about just securing it and paying rent even though we were not there. We decided that it was not financially smart to do that and that we would have to take a chance on it staying available, but had very slim hope. We continued to monitor the home and it still kept popping up on Craigslist! I also kept in contact with Phil Fudge, the realator. In August my in-laws went to see the house and confirmed its existance and that it was truly amazing! We were ready and when the time was right we wanted this home. Until now though, we had no idea where we would end up.

Here are a ton of photos of the house. All of that furniture is gone. I cant wait to put ours in there!

Sell The Truck...CHECK!!!

Over the last couple of days we have gotten a bunch of phone calls to the house, but Evan and I have been soo into spending time together that I did not return them till today. The first guy I talked to really wanted the truck but could not come till tomorrow and even then was not guaranteeing to buy. I called a couple others back and reached their voice mails. Then this afternoon, I dont know why I actually picked up the house phone but something told me to. I picked it up and it was the dad of a teenager (17). The dad explained to me that his son has been saving up for 3 years to buy his dream car and that Evan's truck was it! This kid's name is EVAN also! He also was prepared to give us our asking price!! in CASH! So here is this kid who woke up at 315am every summer for 3 years to scrape barnacles off of boats in order to save up and buy a car!!! JUST what Evan and I wanted for the truck. A guy who will baby Ev's baby! Sooo, he and his mother came to check it out and drop off a personal check to hold the truck till wednesday when his dad is bringing a cashiers check. All I have to say is that God is good! We will have NO credit card debt going into our move and enough money left over for the deposit on our house. That is HUGE! So yeah, FINALLY things are starting to fall into place! WooHoo!!

Oh on a side note... I did make Evan's dentist appointment to get his wisdom tooth pulled since we can afford it now...Sorry Babe. Gotta get it done!! Wont that be interesting!

Things to come are:
-Sending off furniture
-Baby Dedication
-Finding a home (ev's job) =)
-Meeting baby Kate =) (mine and Jackson's job)

Stay tuned!!!

Crafty Crafty

So I have had to take some time out of everything to do something creative..again. You would think that I have enough to do besides taking on another project, but I think its my release. Sooo, I got this really great moses basket for Jackson from Grandma Great Kreoker and I had been thinking about staining it a dark expresso color. I was nervous though about how it might turn out. Well, I went and bought the stain! $7 later and we have an entirely different looking moses basket.! It turned out great. We just have to wait for the fumes to go away before putting baby back in it haha...

Before

After

I am also going to be making some custom bedding to match the other crib bedding. All you have to do is use the origional bedding as a pattern! That is still in the works so I will update this post later to show you all!

Heres a reminder of the fabric that I will be making bedding out of...

Also, I will be ordering this Minky dot chenille fabric in brown and be making a super plush bed pad for the bottom of the basket! Soo Excited. I found an image that will give you an idea!

How Do You Cope?

As I look at moving to an island straight in the face, I am feeling very overwhelmed with a TON of emotions. With every box I pack, at least 100 more tears flow than before. How am I going to cope without my family around me? I have NEVER been without my family for more than a couple months. I went to college locally and we obviously are still in OC. To me family is everything. Its going to be heartbreaking to leave knowing that Jackson wont know his Grandparents as intimately as I want him to. I want to be able to just go on over to Granna's house at a moments notice.

I am going to miss my mom so much.

Things are going to be happening and I wont be there. It is almost too much for my heart to bear. It also doesnt help that my hormones are regulating and Im more tired than a bear who couldn't sleep through the winter. Im on sensory overload!

Things on our list to do are getting done more slowly than I can stand. We still have to: sell the truck. Get all of our furniture and clothes ready to go for a 2 month journey.(HUGE) Find a house.

These tasks look impossible to me as I am having a hard enough time just keeping things clean around here. With Evan quite frequently on training stints, I feel like Im in lock down. I guess we are supposed to find out on Monday what the exact date for our arrival on the island will be. Ill pee my pants with happiness if that actually happens.

Anywho, I know a lot of you are away from your family. I was wondering how you cope with that. We have skype and my parents are getting a camera for it. We plan on using our points to buy tickets home. Another thing is that we are leaving RIGHT BEFORE the holidays...SUCKY!

I know that we will be fine. It will be great to experience this new chapter in our lives and we will make new friends. I just cant help but give myself a moment to take in what we will be missing.

Jackson has a Lily friend!

Today Jackson and I went to visit a dear friend of mine Leslie, who had her little girl, Lily Joyce, 5 weeks ago. Our other really good girlfriend came over to see Lil too! We had so much fun talking about our pregnancies and the joys of motherhood! It was such a fun time of fellowship! After a while we took the kids to the Spectrum for some lunch and a stroll and I found some awesome little preppy plaid pants at Old Navy for like $1! What a joy to get to know Lily and find that her and Jackson were on the same exact schedule. We had way too much fun taking pics of the two. Lily was due exactly when Jackson was due, so it is interesting to see that he is right on track for his adjusted age, 5 weeks! When we leaned them together, they both stopped crying and were actually comforting each other somehow! We couldn't figure out how, but it was some kind of baby magic!

3 Month Clothes!!!! Sooo Fun!

Jackson has been a great sport with my fashion shows over the last week or so... Until we have a girl, Im afraid he will just have to cope! haha He is up to almost 10 Pounds and getting cuter every day!!!

Here are some unclothed pics!!
